Scripps Clinic Dermatologists Provide Free Skin Cancer Screenings

Scripps dermatologists and their staffs turned the Mission Beach Lifeguard Station into a mini-clinic for several hours recently and provided free skin cancer screenings to lifeguards and firefighters, whose jobs require them to spend a great deal of time outdoors.

The Scripps physicians, working inside closed tents, checked for skin abnormalities that could be cancerous. Members of the news media were invited to cover the afternoon event in San Diego.

Dr. Hubert Greenway, chairman of the Mohs and dermatologic surgery at Scripps Clinic, helped organize the event.
