University of Virginia Magazine Features Scripps DNA Research

Study aimed at uncovering genetic keys to sudden unexplained deaths

Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI) has launched a clinical trial, the Molecular Autopsy Study. Researchers conducting the study hope that DNA sequencing can, for the first time, determine the root cause of sudden unexpected death in many families.

An innovative study by the Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI) using genetic sequencing to study the causes of sudden unexplained death was recently featured in a University of Virgina Magazine article.

The story quoted Eric Topol, MD, director of STSI and chief academic officer for Scripps Health. Dr. Topol received his bachelor of arts degree with highest distinction from the University of Virgina in 1975.
