Scripps CEO Recalls Medical Mission 10 Years After Hurricane Katrina

Scripps sent three teams to Houston to care for displaced storm survivors

Scripps Health President and CEO Chris Van Gorder appeared on recent editions of the KPBS “Midday Edition” radio program and the “Evening Edition” television program to discuss the health system’s medical relief mission to the Gulf Coast 10 years after Hurricane Katrina made landfall in the area.


Van Gorder recalled the challenges that faced the three teams of physicians, nurses and support staff that deployed to Houston, and the satisfaction they felt from providing much needed help to storm survivors.
