The PBS program "NewsHour" recently aired a lengthy report about ground-breaking efforts by the Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute to improve diabetes care and outcomes among Hispanic patients in San Diego County.


The Project Dulce program, led by Whittier Director and Scripps Corporate Vice President Athena Philis-Tsimikas, MD, is widely recognized for its innovative use of care teams, peer educators and technologies such as text messaging, smartphone apps and continuous glucose monitors.
