San Diego Magazine recently profiled Kristy Castillo, a Scripps diabetes patient who completed her first marathon last year with the help of a high-tech insulin pump system.

Athena Philis-Tsimikas, MD, an endocrinologist and corporate vice president of the Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute, said new technologies are helping to improve the quality of life for people with diabetes.
