Special tribute for Arizona woman who donated kidney

Scripps recently held the first “hero walk” to honor living organ donors. Hayley Gibbons — who donated one of her kidneys to a needy patient in another state — was cheered by dozens of physicians, staff members and supporters as she was wheeled into surgery at Scripps Green Hospital.

Local media covered the story, including a press conference where GIbbons, an Arizona resident, spoke about being a living kidney donor. She was joined by Scripps transplant surgeons Christopher Marsh, MD, Jonathan Fisher, MD, and Randolph Schaffer, MD. Phoenix media also covered the story.
