Thomas Buchholz, MD, medical director of Scripps MD Anderson, recently appeared on KUSI TV to discuss some of the key advances in cancer care in San Diego in 2019.


Key highlights at Scripps MD Anderson included groundbreaking on the $59 million Prebys Cancer Center, which will offer comprehensive care to patients in central and south San Diego County; introduction of an innovative new surgical technique to treat patients with lymphedema, a debilitating condition that often develops after cancer treatments; and the opening the region’s first dedicated clinic to treat inflammatory breast cancer, an aggressive and often-misdiagnosed form of the disease.
