Critical care back on track after COVID-19 detour

The Coast News and Osidenews.com recently covered the story of a local man whose treatments for a rare, advanced cancer were put on hold due to the new coronavirus pandemic. Jim Gonzales had been responding well to an experimental drug as part of a Phase 1 clinical trial he enrolled in last fall in Houston, but the drug company halted the trial this Spring due to coronavirus concerns. Fortunately, Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center and its partner MD Anderson Cancer Center collaborated to quickly re-establish his care in San Diego in May on a compassionate care basis.
