Scripps CEO Reflects on Medical Mission 20 Years After Hurricane Katrina

Nearly 70 from Scripps deployed to Houston to care for Gulf Coast survivors

Nearly 70 from Scripps deployed to Houston to care for Gulf Coast survivors

Scripps Health President and CEO Chris Van Gorder recently shared memories of the health organization’s first medical response mission, which occurred 20 years ago after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and other parts of the Gulf Coast. 

 

Van Gorder told local news outlets that nearly 70 physicians, nurses and administrative/logistics staff members provided care to nearly 5,000 people during the three-week deployment to Houston.
