Injuries are rising as vehicles become more popular among kids
Appearing at a recent press conference with representatives of local law enforcement agencies, Scripps trauma surgeons warned against the increasing use of e-bikes and electric motorcycles by children and teenagers.
Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego medical director of trauma Vishal Bansal, MD, and Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla associate director of trauma and acute care surgery Nina Lu, MD, said their hospitals have seen an increase in injuries suffered by people who operate these types vehicles, often in violation of the law.
Scripps Health’s injury prevention program offers teens and parents free e-bike training that covers a wide range of safety, operations, equipment and communications information.
