CBS 8 reported on a wedding day emergency that threatened to derail nuptials
When Jordan Mendoza accidently crushed his thumb just hours before his wedding in Rancho Santa Fe, he thought the medical emergency might derail the biggest day of his life.
But once he arrived at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, an extended team of care givers from the emergency department and radiology to the operating room and recovery area did everything needed to get the Orange County resident back on his feet and discharged in time to make his late afternoon wedding.
CBS 8 features reporter Jeff Zevely recently interviewed Mendoza, his emergency on-call hand surgeon, Kristopher Downing, MD, and one of his ED nurses, Dorsi Mancuso, RN, during a follow-up visit to the hospital.
