Drop in workplace violence injuries signals progress
Becker’s Hospital Review recently reported on Scripps Health’s success in reducing workplace violence injuries sustained by employees.
The news outlet cited several factors behind Scripps’ success, including its wide adoption of the “10-5-2” rule, in which caregivers initially greet the patient from 10 feet away, then move closer depending on the patient’s behavior.
The story also cites how Scripps Health President and CEO Chris Van Gorder initiated the San Diego Hospital Workforce Violence Task Force, a regional, broad-based approach to improve hospital safety that has emerged as a national model.
