Dr. James Chao is fellowship-trained in hand and microvascular surgery. He specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery, as well as cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, reconstructive breast surgery and body contour surgery. He is also committed to developing new plastic surgery technologies.


Dr. Chao is a former professor of surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery at UC San Diego from 2004-2012.
