Darlene J. Elias, MD, is a pulmonary disease specialist with expertise in deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, in addition to general pulmonary medicine. As director of the Scripps Anticoagulation Service, she is experienced with warfarin management and new oral anticoagulant therapies.
In addition to her clinical practice, she participates in research on the mechanisms of blood coagulation, risk factors for venous thrombosis and genetic causes of venous thrombosis. She has also been an active participant in clinical trials for the new oral agents to treat thrombosis.
Dr. Elias is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the California Thoracic Society, the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
