Elizabeth Sage Epstein, MD, is a cardiologist with a deep-rooted passion for integrative approaches to cardiovascular health. She has dedicated her career to uniting the best of conventional and evidence-based integrative medicine. Through her training in internal medicine, cardiology and integrative medicine, Dr. Epstein has developed a holistic, prevention-focused practice that empowers patients to prevent and reverse cardiovascular disease while pursuing long, healthy and fulfilling lives. She enjoys partnering with patients and meeting them wherever they are — joining them on their unique journey to better health.
Dr. Epstein currently serves as faculty in integrative cardiology at Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine and holds a dual appointment as a scientific collaborator at Scripps Research. She is also co-principal investigator of an innovative lab focused on integrative and preventive cardiology. Her research interests include deep-learning-enabled coronary CT for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk assessment, multimodal risk prediction, and evidence-based supplement strategies to support lipid management and cardiometabolic health.
Outside of her clinical and research work, Dr. Epstein is the author of a heart-healthy cookbook and the host of a podcast focused on practical, life-saving health strategies. She is also a certified yoga and fitness instructor, bringing movement and mindfulness into her personal life and professional philosophy.
She enjoys living in beautiful San Diego, spending time outdoors with her husband and Australian Shepherd, and getting her 10,000 steps each day walking along the beach. She believes that gratitude is the key to happiness and brings this mindset to both her personal life and her work with patients.
