Biography
Ophthalmologist, Jose Quiceno, MD, has been practicing ophthalmology since 1997 with an emphasis on cataract surgery and laser vision correction procedures. He also has additional training in refractive laser vision correction surgery, using a variety of technologies to treat a range of conditions. His practice philosophy is to find the best solution for the patient based on lifestyle and preference and return the patient to independence and everyday activities with ease.
A seasoned ocular surgeon, Dr. Quiceno has performed more than 3,000 refractive surgeries and more than 10,000 intraocular surgeries. He was also involved in the early developmental stages of the femtosecond laser (Intralase) for refractive surgery, a process that increases precision and accuracy of incisions made during cataract surgery. The scope of his practice includes all aspects of refractive surgical correction of the eye, not just laser vision correction.
In his free time, Dr. Quiceno is a professional musician and vocalist and has recorded several albums. Described as traditional South American music with a new age twist, he can be seen performing throughout San Diego County. Dr. Quiceno is married with two daughters and has been the official ophthalmologist of the Padres for the past six years.
