Psychiatric evaluation
The Psychiatric Liaison Team provides evaluation to patients within the Scripps Health system in San Diego, either through the emergency department or hospital admission. The PLT team services all five Scripps Hospitals and the Rancho Bernardo and Torrey Pines Urgent Care. Our team strives to ensure the well-being of every patient by recognizing the importance of the mind/body relationship to promote healing and wellness.
Our Psychiatric Liaison Team members are licensed mental health professionals or RNs with a broad range of skills and experience. Based at Scripps Mercy Hospital (San Diego and Chula Vista), the team serves all Scripps hospitals.
The Psychiatric Liaison Team works in collaboration with Scripps psychiatrists to provide:
- In-depth psychiatric evaluation
- Dual-diagnosis evaluations and referrals
- Evaluations for involuntary psychiatric treatment
- Consultation by attending psychiatrists
- Assistance with behavioral management and safety issues
- Referrals for inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care
- Information and education
- Family, children and adolescent resources
