Fellows of the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship Program at Scripps Clinic train at multiple sites within the Scripps Health system and research institutes in San Diego, including the following:

Scripps Prebys Cardiovascular Institute (SPCI) is the newest, most advanced cardiology hospital on the US West Coast. It has 168-patient rooms and 60-ICU beds. The facility houses two hybrid operating rooms and four catheterization labs. The Prebys Institute s a tertiary referral center. The emergency room, located in the same building on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, has 51-beds and a 15-bed observation unit. It is a regional STEMI, trauma and stroke center. 


Sixty percent of cardiovascular care in San Diego County is provided by Scripps. The Prebys Institute is the tertiary referral center for the cardiac disease in the Scripps Health system and a quaternary referral center for the region.

Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine is a national leader in holistic cardiovascular care. Led by integrative cardiologist, Dr. Christopher Suhar, The center combines state-of-the-art traditional, western medicine with the best of global healing traditions to prevent and treat all cardiovascular disease. Integrative medicine takes a proactive, holistic approach that empowers patients to do more than just take a pill. 

Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI) is a leader in translational genomics, digital medicine and is the only member of the National Institutes of Health’s Clinical and Translational Science Award consortium that is not affiliated with a university.
