Scripps Mercy Hospital (San Diego and Chula Vista) celebrated its 125th anniversary on July 9, 2015 and a number of local media outlets took notice. Community leaders gathered to mark the occasion with a time capsule installation, a medical artifacts display and a retrospective photo exhibit. Founded by Mother Mary Michael Cummings and the Sisters of Mercy, Scripps Mercy is the region’s longest-established hospital.

Two days later, on July 11, Scripps Mercy held a free community celebration of the 125th for the public, again outside the historic hospital, and several local media outlets provided coverage.
