The Scripps Mercy Outreach Surgical Team, M.O.S.T. recently returned from its latest mission in Mexico, where medical teams performed more than 300 free, corrective surgeries to fix birth defects such as cleft palates and other conditions. Most of the recipients were children.

Thomas Vecchione, MD, plastic surgeon and M.O.S.T. founding member, recently discussed the nearly 30-year-old volunteer group’s missions to Mexico on KUSI and encouraged people who want to help to support M.O.S.T.’s annual Mariachi Festival fundraiser at the Jacobs Center in southeastern San Diego on May 21.
