The 48th annual Scripps Clinic Golf Invitational and the special celebration that followed in honor of local philanthropists Eileen and John “Jack” Anderson IV raised more than $1.2 million and garnered news media coverage.

More than 100 golfers participated in the invitational on Sept. 9 at the Torrey Pines South Golf Course. The next evening, the Scripps Health Foundation paid tribute to the Andersons for their generous contributions in support of the construction of the Scripps Clinic John R. Anderson V Medical Pavilion, which opened in June on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

More than 300 guests attended the outdoor tribute event, which took place near the Anderson Medical Pavilion, which is named in honor of the Andersons' late son.
