Anna Hackenberg, who was paralyzed from the chest down in an accident last year, was recently featured in The San Diego Union-Tribune. The local physician discussed her plans to participate in the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon this weekend. She will compete in the race using a handcycle wheelchair.
James Schwendig, MD, the trauma surgeon who treated Hackenberg at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, commended her for her strong will in the face of personal tragedy.
