Jacob New, MD, is a medical oncologist specializing in lung cancer, head and neck cancers (which includes oral cavity cancer, oropharynx cancer, laryngeal cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, salivary gland cancer, thyroid cancer, among others), as well as other thoracic cancers such as mesothelioma.
Being diagnosed with cancer can bring uncertainty about the future. Dr. New believes the best care begins with listening, understanding and shaping personalized care for each patient.
Dr. New works alongside an expert team of surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists and supportive-care specialists to create a treatment plan for each patient based on the latest advances in cancer research.
He has published widely on new cancer therapies, sharing discoveries in scientific journals to help improve care for patients worldwide. His research focuses on how cancers grow, how the immune system responds, and how new medicines, vaccines and therapies impact patients’ daily lives. Dr. New serves as a scientific collaborator at Scripps Research. He is proud to be a part of a team at Scripps dedicated to advancing cancer care through both world-class clinical practice and scientific discovery.
