Matthew Hoover, PA, is a physician assistant specializing in sports medicine and orthopedics. His background as a certified athletic trainer and his experience caring for athletes at multiple levels give him a unique perspective on orthopedic injuries, recovery and return to activity.
Matthew began his career in sports medicine working with collegiate athletes in San Diego and completed an athletic training internship with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills. He began his career in orthopedic surgery as a physician assistant at Stanford Health Care where he developed further specialization and skills in orthopedic injuries and treatment.
Matthew is committed to building strong relationships with his patients and believes education is an essential part of high-quality orthopedic care. He takes time to explain each diagnosis, review treatment options and discuss expected recovery, helping patients feel informed and comfortable throughout their care. His goal is to help every patient understand their condition and take an active role in treatment decisions — whether they are returning to competitive sports, an active lifestyle or everyday activities.
Outside of work, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife and staying active. His interests include hiking, biking, paddleboarding and surfing, and he values opportunities to connect with the outdoors, family and friends.
