Biography

Family medicine specialist, Mark Shalauta, MD, believes in forming a partnership with his patients. This includes gathering all information and presenting to the patient so they can make informed decisions about their health care. He also enjoys caring for the entire family and treats patients of all ages and with a variety of medical needs.


As a family physician, Dr. Shalauta provides comprehensive care with a special interest in newborn, pediatric, and adolescent medicine. While he is trained to perform a variety of procedures, he specializes in newborn circumcisions, skin biopsies and procedures, joint injections, IUD placement, and colposcopies. He is also experienced with childhood and adult immunizations, serving on the Scripps & San Diego County immunization committees.


In addition to his practice, Dr. Shalauta continues to teach as a volunteer associate clinical professor at the UCSD (University of California, San Diego) School of Medicine.


In his spare time he stays active by swimming, running, and playing volleyball. He also cherishes time spent with his family.
