Dr. Shimizu has always been fascinated by science, specifically genetics and molecular biology. He has also always had an interest in helping people and doing things to benefit others. In medical school, these two interests lead him toward a specialty in oncology. During his rotation in radiation oncology, he knew he had found his calling. Fighting cancer is both a scientific and human endeavor, and his objective is to win the fight with science and compassion.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, trying new foods and spending time with his family.
