Biography
Curtiss T. Stinis, MD, is an interventional cardiologist, director of advanced cardiovascular therapies in the Scripps Clinic Division of Cardiology and a clinical professor of medicine. He is nationally recognized for his expertise in minimally invasive, catheter-based procedures for the treatment of valvular heart disease, coronary heart disease and peripheral arterial disease.
Dr. Stinis has extensive experience performing percutaneous valve replacement procedures, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR), transcatheter pulmonic valve replacement (TPVR) and transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement (TTVR). Dr. Stinis also specializes in percutaneous procedures for the treatment of complex coronary and peripheral arterial disease, with a special focus on chronic total occlusions (CTO) and complex lower-extremity revascularization procedures for limb salvage, wound healing and amputation avoidance.
Additionally, Dr. Stinis conducts clinical research on minimally invasive treatments for valvular heart disease and has been published extensively in medical journals. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.
Dr. Stinis believes strongly in a patient-centric and individualized approach to medical care and believes that an educated patient is an empowered patient. He understands that everyone is unique and develops individualized treatment plans with patients and their families.
When not at work, Dr. Stinis enjoys spending time with his family, flying airplanes and tinkering with anything mechanical.
