Robin B. Brown, Jr., FACHE
Chief Executive, Senior Vice President, Scripps Green Hospital
Robin Brown was selected as chief executive of Scripps Green Hospital in 2000. An acute care hospital with 173 licensed beds, Brown has led the team to achieve outstanding success in clinical outcomes, patient service, employee satisfaction and financial performance. He believes the key to a high-performance culture is having the right people in key leadership roles and creating a work environment where employees can excel.
Brown began his career at Scripps in 1986 as director of affiliated business services where he managed a portfolio of health care related businesses, including a home health agency, nursing homes and several medical office buildings. In 1992, he was named chief executive of the 162-bed Scripps Memorial Hospital East County. And later he served as corporate vice president, business development.
Brown served on active duty in the U.S. Navy for seven years as a medical service corps officer. He later transitioned to the U.S. Naval Reserve where he has served as commanding officer during four tours of duty over 23 years. Prior to joining Scripps, he was assistant administrator at two separate acute care hospitals in San Diego County.
Brown received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego, and holds a Master in Healthcare Administration from Duke University. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and currently serves as board chairman for San Diego Health Connect (HIE). He also has served on the boards of the Hospital Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties (HASDIC), the California Hospital Association (CHA) and the American Hospital Association (AHA), Regional Policy Board 9.
