Tom Gammiere, FACHE
Chief Executive, Senior Vice President, Scripps Mercy Hospital
As a senior vice president and chief executive of Scripps Mercy Hospital, Tom Gammiere is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the 517-bed Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego and the 183-bed Scripps Mercy Hospital in Chula Vista.
Gammiere began his career at Scripps in 1987. He first served as the assistant administrator and then as the administrator at Scripps Memorial Hospital Chula Vista. When the hospital merged with Scripps Mercy Hospital in 2004, Gammiere was named chief executive for both campuses.
Prior to joining Scripps, Gammiere served as assistant administrator of support services at St. Benedict’s Hospital in Ogden, Utah. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Marietta College in Ohio and his Master of Health Care Administration from the University of Iowa.
Gammiere is a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives and a member of the California Health Care Association. He also serves on the board of the Hospital Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties.
