I Am Woman: World Stroke Day Event
How Stroke Affects Women
How Stroke Affects Women
Each year, 17 million people experience stroke. Of these, women are more likely than men to suffer from a stroke. Women are also more likely to have hypertension, atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), diabetes, depression and obesity — increasing their risk of having a stroke.
In honor of World Stroke Day, join Scripps neurologist Mary Kalafut, MD, and a panel of experts to learn about the stroke risks specific to women, stroke prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
