Athena Philis-Tsimikas, MD, an endocrinologist and corporate vice president of the Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute, recently discussed the risks of gestational diabetes during pregnancy with U.S. News & World Report.

Dr. Tsimikas focused on ways to prevent and manage this type of diabetes, which affects more than 10 percent of pregnancies every year.
