CBS 8 News covers story of unique medical collaboration

CBS 8 News recently covered the inspiring story of Rose Truong, a San Diego woman who was diagnosed with bone cancer in her right shoulder socket. Conventional surgery to remove the tumor and socket would have left her with a condition called “hanging shoulder,” which renders the joint motionless. But Rose’s highly specialized medical team collaborated on an innovative approach that successfully treated her cancer and restored her shoulder function. Her team included experts from Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center, Scripps Clinic’s orthopedic surgery division and the Shiley Center for Orthopaedic Research and Education (SCORE) at Scripps Clinic.
