Jeremy McCandless, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee replacement, hip replacement, minimally invasive orthopedic procedures, major joint preservation, and computer and robotic surgery. Dr. McCandless also specializes in fixing complex problems affecting prior joint replacements and nearby fractures and believes quality of life and mobility go hand-in-hand.
He is among the most experienced orthopedic surgeons in the San Diego region in the field of robotic knee and hip replacement. He has performed more cases than any other orthopedic surgeon in the area and trained on one of the first FDA-approved systems. He also performs conventional surgeries. Dr. McCandless works closely with patients to develop individualized plans addressing knee and hip issues caused by osteoarthritis and loss of cartilage, past sports injuries or other structural causes of chronic knee and hip pain. He welcomes all patients, including those seeking a second medical opinion.
Dr. McCandless has extensive — and nationally recognized — training focused on perfecting surgical treatment of orthopedic problems. This training gives him the ability to bring appropriate techniques and technologies to a case. He believes surgery can be an excellent solution for many orthopedic issues, but sometimes it is not the only treatment option for patients. Dr. McCandless says his ultimate goal is to understand each patient’s goals, lifestyle and activity level to give them the best outcome after surgery.
