Doran Spencer, MD, PhD

Doran Spencer, MD, PhD, is an ophthalmologist specializing in uveitis and retina care. With extensive experience diagnosing and treating ocular inflammation, particularly uveitis, Dr. Spencer is dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients with complex eye conditions. His clinical focus lies in minimizing ocular side effects from steroids by favoring non-steroidal treatments, including immunomodulatory therapy (IMT), when appropriate.

PhD research led him to an ophthalmology laboratory, where he explored the immune system in the eye and studied uveitis — a condition that allows the immune response to be observed visually. This pivotal work shaped his passion for understanding and treating ocular inflammation.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenage children, supporting their busy academic and athletic endeavors, and exploring the world together during their family adventures.
