Biography
Dimitrios Tzachanis, MD, PhD, is a hematologist and medical oncologist specializing in blood and marrow transplantation (BMT) and cellular therapies. He has extensive clinical experience in treating hematologic malignancies, including acute and chronic leukemias, Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), myeloproliferative neoplasms, lymphomas and multiple myeloma, with a particular focus on chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy and stem cell transplantation.
Dr. Tzachanis has a strong interest in clinical research and has served as principal investigator on numerous national and international trials exploring novel therapies for hematologic cancers. His research has contributed to advancements in CAR T-cell therapy, immune tolerance post-transplant and targeted therapies for Graft-versus-Host Disease (GVHD). He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents at national and international conferences.
He began practicing medicine in 1997 and has held academic and clinical leadership roles at major institutions across the country.
Dr. Tzachanis believes in a patient-centered approach to care, emphasizing open communication, shared decision-making and compassionate support throughout the treatment journey. His goal is to provide cutting-edge therapies while maintaining a strong therapeutic alliance with his patients.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Tzachanis enjoys playing beach volleyball, soccer and spending time with his family.
