Christopher Reid, MD

Christopher Reid, MD, is a plastic surgeon who specializes in microsurgery and cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, including complex reconstruction. As an expert in microsurgery, Dr. Reid operates on a very small scale to rebuild or repair parts of the body that no longer function well. 

Dr. Reid specializes in breast reconstruction with advanced free flap methods such as Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator (DIEP) flap breast reconstruction and Profunda Artery Perforator (PAP) flaps. Both procedures rebuild the breast using a patient’s own tissue rather than implants, creating a natural look and feel. They also preserve muscle and use microsurgery to reconnect blood vessels. 

A San Diego native, Dr. Reid is dedicated to helping patients in the region and providing the most advanced and innovative surgical options to improve patient outcomes and recovery. He is passionate about being at the forefront of reconstructive plastic surgery, authoring more than 87 peer-reviewed articles and numerous book chapters on reconstructive and oncologic surgery. He has also presented at leading national and international meetings, with research spanning microsurgical outcomes, perioperative innovation, infection prevention and oncologic reconstruction. 

Dr. Reid has received many honors and awards, from clinical research awards to being named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgeons, the Plastic Surgery Research Council and the California Society of Plastic Surgeons.
